Bill Frist was the United States Senate Majority Leader from 2003-2007. Frist is a cardiac surgeon and author of the 1989 memoir Transplant: A Heart Surgeon's Account of the Life-and-Death Dramas of the New Medicine. He is a major stockholder to the for-profit hospital chain of Hospital Corporation of America.
