Deborah Fallows

Deborah Fallows is the author of Dreaming In Chinese: Mandarin Lessons in Life, Love, and Language, a book about the three years she and her husband spent living in China. Fallows, who has a Ph.D. in linguistics, found that studying Mandarin offered her an invaluable perspective on the Chinese culture. Of her time in China she says, “The lens of the language became my way to understand and explain many of the confounding things that I was seeing every day.” Her previous book is A Mother’s Work and has written for the New York Times Book Review, National Geographic, The Atlantic, and numerous other publications.
