Meredith Whitney is CEO and Founder of Meredith Whitney Advisory Group and Author of “Fate of the States: The New Geography of American Prosperity.”
Best known for her ground breaking work and early identification of the mortgage and broader credit crisis, Whitney is one of the most respected voices on Wall Street. In 2006, Ms. Whitney presented to the FDIC on the U.S. consumer and the risks in the sub-prime market. In 2007, her prescient forecast of Citibank’s need to raise capital, sell assets, and cut its dividend set off a one day $400 billion drop in the markets. From that point forward, she became the go to voice on the financial industry.
Now focused on the US recovery, Whitney has layered her expertise on the financial industry with a deep mining of fiscal and legal frameworks of the states to identify what she believes will be the next American super-cycle of economic growth and investment opportunity.
Prior to founding Meredith Whitney Advisory Group, Ms. Whitney was a Managing Director and Senior Financial Institutions Analyst for Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. She has been named by Fortune as one of 50 Most Powerful Women and by Time as one of the 100 Most Influential People. She is a member of the New York Economic Club and serves on the NBC Universal Women's Advisory Board. She graduated with Honors from Brown University.
