Mikhail Gorbachev

TNP 2013 offers a unique opportunity to witness history. Former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev will present, over two days, at this year's gathering. The Nobel Prize winner will reflect on the end of Soviet Communism, his relationship with Ronald Reagan and his views on the world today.

Gorbachev served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1985 until 1991. He was also the first and only president of the Soviet Union, serving from 1990 to 1991. During his rule Gobachev introduced the policies of perestroika and glasnost which led to domestic reforms and greater freedoms for the Soviet people. In 1990 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace for his contribution to world peace and disarmament.
